Starting and Maintaining a Movement

Curator of Resources

We live in a world full of resources today. Our greatest challenge is not in developing more resources, but in taking action to do something with what we know.

When attending UC Berkeley as a college student I was actively involved in CRU. CRU is a movement on college campuses started by a businessman named Bill Bright. Bill saw that to create a movement, he needed to develop leaders who loved God wholeheartedly who are equipped with the skills to expand the world changing movement that Jesus began.

Bill Bright is with the Lord today, yet the movement continues on the solid foundation that Bill Bright laid. He understood that he needed to equip people to lead others, then equip leaders of leaders to supervise and encourage those leaders. He understood the challenge of maintaining the heart and passion that caused the movement to begin in the first place. Too many movements lose steam because they lose their “why” behind the movement.

Bill wanted every college student to have the opportunity to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He knew he couldn’t control whether a person responded to the invitation, so he focused making sure they had the chance to respond.

He trained people successful witnessing is “sharing Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit, while leaving the results to God.”

Anyone who is serious about launching and maintaining a disciple-making movement would do well to study the tools and resources developed by Bill Bright and Campus Crusade for Christ. Here is where you can begin:
