Lead with Speed

Romans 12:8 (ESV) …the one who leads, with zeal…

Proistemi – the word for “leader,” can be translateed as “the first to stand.”

When there is a crisis, the leader is the first to step forward to serve and to help.

The one with this gift of leadership is to do it with “zeal,” the word of “spoude,” meaning that if you the the gift of leadership, do it with speed, get on with it, take initiative and lead someone.

We have never been in greater need for spiritual leadership in our country, in our state and in our homes. A leaderless country like Somalia is a disaster. Have you ever seen a leaderless home? Or a leaderless team? It is no fun.

Everyone is a leader to some extent and the most important person to lead is self. In reality, no one should attempt to lead others until the leader has effectively led self.

Paul the Apostle said, “follow me as I follow Christ.” He is saying, “I’m setting the pace, do as I do.”

Self assessment is the first step in the process of moving forward. You cannot know how to get to where you want to go, until you first have a clear understanding of your present location. Like the map at the rest stop on the freeway, without the little red arrow, identifying the current location, you cannot know how to get where you are going.

Whatever God is calling you to do as a leader, make sure that you have a fresh vision from God, you have spent time fasting ane praying, listening to the clear voice of God, then report for duty, saying,

“Lord, not my will but Thy will be done.”
